Happy 41st!

Pretty sure that Charley will kill me when he sees that I've posted his age here... so maybe if I say a whole bunch of nice things about him, he'll forgive me :) (love ya honey!).

My sweet husband's birthday was yesterday (Feb 22). I feel bad that this is the only picture I got of him the whole day. Well, we didn't really see each other but just for a couple hours. We both had a stressful day!


I did manage to leave work a little early so I could take him out. He was (luckily) able to get his shift covered at the last minute so he had the night free. He chose to go to dinner and a movie! Surprise, surprise! Actually, it was a pretty fun night. We went to Teppanyaki for dinner. We always love that place, but definately can only go there on a special occasion! After that we went and picked Nate up and went and saw the Percy Jackson movie. It was actually pretty good. (Did i really say that??). It was funny because 10 minutes into the movie, I pulled out my phone and said.. "I'm glad I have games & facebook on my phone" But after Charley convinced me to put my phone away, I was actually able to get into the movie and enjoy it. Nate loved it! I think he will read the books now! And to make it even better.. we had a private showing! We were the ONLY ones in the entire theater! Weird?

So onto Charley's "card".

Charley and I kind of have a "fortune cookie" motif going on in our relationship. When we were first dating, I think he was a little more ready for a "relationship" than I was. The first time I went to Idaho with him, we at at a chinese buffet. My fortune cookie said something about "embracing what I had in front of me" we just kind of laughed about it.

So when Charley propsed, he had fortune cookies made, and the fortune read "Sarah will you marry me". I still have the fortune!

So this was mine & Nate's little project. We made this little chinese box and filled it with paper "fortune cookies". Gotta admit, it was pretty fun to make... and Charley loved it!

Just wanted to say happy, happy birthday Charley! I have no idea where I would be without you, and I am greatful every day that you have come into my life. You are an amazing husband & father and I am so lucky that you have chosen me as your wife! I know life is stressful right now, but I also know that we have happy times in store for us. Life is better because we have each other...Love you! Hope you had an amazing day and your next 41 years look even brighter.. looking forward to spending them with you!

Catching Up...

Whew... So much to blog... So little time!

I have finally posted some stuff from the last few weeks... I always think about blogging, but just sitting down to do it.. Yikes!! So if you're reading... keep scrolling.. There's quite a bit!

We just got back from Idaho. Just a short day trip this time. We went to see Brogan be baptized. It was actually pretty neat. It was at a hot springs place close by and afterwards all the kids could swim. (I guess in Idaho, when the church is booked for the day you need it, the next closest church is NOT so close!)... But it was really neat to go and to visit with Charley's family for the day... I always wish we had more time to spend there.

Here's a few pictures that were taken at the facility where he was baptized. It was called 1000 Springs. I always love the look of a suit & tie, so I had to take a picture of "my boys" in their suits.

Hit & Run, Ouch!

So the Honda has now experienced it's first accident... As Charley was on his way to get his allergy shot, in the lovely 35th South traffice, somebody pulled out in front of him and he rear ended them. It was a Ford explorer, and when the lady got out of the car, noticed she didn't have any body damage, and drove off. She didn't speak english and left VERY quickly... Hmmm. It may (or may not) be a blessing in disguise that she left the scene. Since Charley is the one that hit from behind, he is automatically at fault, and we may have been responsible for her car also. But, since she left the scene, it was considered a hit and run.

Charley, and Nate were the only ones in the car, and they are both fine. Poor Nate, this is his 4th accident in his short 9 years of life. The car is driveable, but there's a large dent in the front bumper, hood and fender on the passenger side. Guess we're going to get to work on the insurance & estimates...

One Year... Already!!

Can you believe it's been a year? I just wanted to share a little about our anniversary dinner. Well, actually, it was an anniversary week! It started Tuesday when we left for Hawaii.

Last year, on our wedding day, (June 4th) we went and got massages in the morning, went to the courthouse and were married, then went straight to the airport for our honeymoon. As soon as we got to Long Beach, it was late in the evening, so we went to dinner at a fancy steakhouse, Ruth's Chris. I had never eaten there (I'm not much of a steak person), but Charley had and loved their steaks. It's a very nice restaurant with excellent service. Of course, you pay for the service because the meals aren't cheap. We figured it was a special day, so we wanted to go somewhere special for dinner. When we sat at the table, the host pulled the chair out for me, said enjoy your meal, Ms. Blackwood, and put the napkin on my lap. UM, ok as soon as he called me by my name (my new name of about 4 hours, that is) I knew that it was a nice, expensive restaurant.

Fast forward one year. We're in Hawaii for our anniversary, we're at a nice time share resort & spa with free massages, and there's a Ruth's Chris down the street. We did have a relaxing massage and went online and made reservations for dinner. There was an area online where it asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, so I checked the anniversary box. When we arrived at the restaurant, they took us right to our table, it was covered with fresh rose petals. They also greeted us with "complimentary" champaigne and he asked if we wanted him to pour it for us. When we told him no thanks, we didn't drink, he soon arrived with two glasses of non alcoholic sparkling juice. After dinner, he brought a free anniversary dessert. Chocolate & coconut covered strawberries in the prettiest display i've ever seen! Then he gave us an anniversary card with a $25 gift certificate in it for our next visit. Whoa! Although we don't go there often (twice to be exact), I am so impressed with the service and will definately go back again. Not to mention the food was awesome! The best steak I've ever had. (They serve them on sizzling 500 degree platters). And the other food was just as good!! I would definately recommend going there for a birthday or anniversary. They really make you feel special on your special day.

Doesn't this dessert look awesome?? It came on a glass tube filled with rose petals. Almost too pretty to eat! But, you know me and chocolate covered strawberries! Of course we at them. The sticks were edible shaved dark chocolate. Not bad for free, eh?

Happy anniversary CBabe! I am truly lucky to have you my life. When we are together, I know that you truly love me for who I am. Thanks for having patience with me and for everythng you do for me. I am so glad we have spent the last year together and am looking ahead to the many years to come. Hopefully I will make you feel as special as you have made me feel. I love you & am so blessed to have you as a husband.

Well, LOL. Depends on who you ask. I say we met at Leatherby's. He says we met on LDS Singles. Guess one of these days I'll admit that I use to spend all my free time chatting online.

Uh... *grin* 7 Months?

5 Months and 8 days to be exact!

4. What is one thing he does that surprises you?

He's an amazing writer! He writes beautiful poetry, and has written me some poems that bring me to tears.

5. What is your favorite feature about him?
His Personality. He always makes me laugh.

6. What is your favorite quality about him?
He is so generous and giving of himself. He is always offering and willing to help others. He's such a great step dad... He's so good with Nate & nate adores him. He takes him to school every morning, helps him to be responsible, and helps him with his scouts.

7. Does he have a nickname for you?
Lots actually. I'm usually surprised if he ever calls me by name... Sometimes I think it mean's i'm in trouble!... Seriously though, he calls me punkin, kiddo, I like it when he calls me baby... and my new favorite, Mylo!

8. What is his favorite color?
BYU Blue

9. What is his favorite food?
He changes all the time. I think he loved italian until I made him eat it too much! He likes comfort foods... chicken strips, mashed potatoes & popcorn.

10. What is his favorite sport?
He loves them all... I'd venture to guess that football and golf are his tops.

11. Who said "I love you" First?
Definately him. It was in another language though.

12. When and Where was your first kiss?
His Apartment in Provo. A few weeks after we started dating.

13. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple?

Going to dinner, watching old tv show reruns, computer games, playing the WII. We're both very competitive, so games between the two of us get quite entertaining!

14. Do you have kids?

I have one son, he has two daughters.

15. What is a hidden talent of his?
He use to manage apartments and hotels, so he knows a lot of those little "tricks". He can get stains out of anything, make a messy house look clean, can work his way out of contracts, and he folds towels like a professional. He doesn't realize it, but he's signed on for a lifetime of towel folding! They look so nice when the are stacked in the closet!!

16. How old is he?
Dare I say? He's still under 40!

17. What do you admire most about him?
He makes me feel important. He tells me all the time how much he loves me and needs me. It's so nice to feel loved and appreciated.

18. What is his favorite past time?
Gotta say watching sports on TV

19. What is his favorite kind of music?
He likes lots of music. I think he tolerates country because of me. I also tease him about Niel Diamond a lot.

20. Do you think he will read this?
Eventually. I still haven't figured out if he's too keen on all the time I spend blogging...

Since I wasn't very tired last night and Charley wasn't feeling very well, I thought I'd try some more of these digital pages. I decided I better do something to make Charley smile, so that when he asked me what I've been working on, I can say more than just "working on the blog!" (Sorry babe!). Anyway, I have been looking for more ways to let Charley know how much I appreciate him and everything he does for me. He really does make me feel like a princess! I need to remind myself everyday how lucky I am to be married to him!
