Now that a year has passed...

I thought maybe I would dust off the blog and update it.  It is crazy how much time can go by in between blogging.  Yes, we are still here and alive!! It's not that I haven't wanted to update it, it's just that it's at the bottom of my list of things to do.  I still log in and read everybody's updates fairly regularly, I just don't take the time to sit down and write.  In other words, I keep up this blog about as well as I've always kept up on my personal journal.....

So, here goes.  This year the fourth of July on a wednesday really throws a kink in things.  It is so hard to have a holiday in the middle of the week!  (And believe me, we are NOT partiers!).  This year we were just busy, so it made for a tiring week.  Tuesday evening city cleanup dumpsters arrived.  So Wednesday morning, it was yard work for us!  We dejunked the backyard, which has been needing to be done for a while.  Mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, trimming the trees, it was a long morning.  I love this photo of Nate and Charley INSIDE the dumpster pushing the garbage down.  (West Valley has a rule that nothing can be over the top of the dumpster).

After the yard work in the 100 degree weather, we came inside to get ready for Stadium of Fire.  This year is the first time we've gone down where we didn't actually have tickets.  We had spotted a nice shady spot behind the stadium last year that we wanted to try.  We headed down early, around 4 PM to make sure we missed the traffic and could get a spot.  We went with Denise, Stacey and Christian.. and Happy!  We drove down, stopped for hamburgers and headed to the stadium.  Turned out we were there two hours early because it actually started at 8, and not 7!!  So we sat on our blankets and chairs, ate dinner, and people watched.  Nate and Christian kept busy with the iPads.  It turned out perfect.  It was shady, we could see the flyover (Charley's favorite part), hear the concerts, see the fireworks, and it was FREE!  And as always, stadium has amazing fireworks!  We even got to experience the two hour drive back to Salt Lake... Ugh!  So needless to say, waking up and going to work Thursday morning was not fun!  I had told a few friends at work, I'm positive this is what a hangover would feel like.  I was dead tired, I had a headache,  and my body was sore (from tossing and lifting everything into the dumpsters)!

Overall, I think we've found a new tradition...  Going to stadium and sitting outside the stadium...  OH, and starting next year, I'm going to request the 5th of July off!  Happy Birthday America!
